Saulos Chilima biography gives an account of some events of a youthful Malawi vice president. Saulos Chilima is an economist, computer scientist, and politician from Malawi. The name Saulos Chilima started to gain national popularity in 2014.
In the year 2014 Peter Muthalika choose Saulos Chilima as his presidential running mate for the general election held in that year.
After a successful campaign the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) won the general election. It is during this time when Saulos Chilima aged 41, become the Vice president of Malawi.
Saulosi Chilima aged 45 who in short people call SKC was born on 12th February, 1973. It is without doubt that his youthful age attracted the attention of many people in Malawi.
He is from Ntcheu district from the central region of Malawi.
Saulos Chilima Education
Chilima went to Marist Brother Mtendere Secondary School in Dedza for his MSCE studies.
Thereafter, SKC was selected to go for further studies at Chancellor College of the University of Malawi.
In 1994 he graduated with a Bachelor of Social in science in Economics and computer science.
In the quest to quench his thirsty for education Saulos Chilima went back to Chancellor College to get his Masters in Arts in Economics from 2003 to 2005.
He now holds a doctor of philosophy (PhD) in Knowledge management from the University of Bolton in the United Kingdom. Chilima received his PhD on 1oth August 2015.
Career and Work
Saulos Chilima worked under different multinational company before rising to the position of Chief Executive Officer of Airtel Malawi.
He occupied different leadership position at companies in such Uniliver, Coca-Cola and Airtel Malawi.
Reports indicate that he is a much disciplined workaholic. People who worked close to him say he entertains no laziness.
Saulos Chilima wife, religion, and Sports
Mary Chilima is the wife of Dr. Chilima. Together the couple has two children.
Chilima is a devout Catholic. He regularly attends mass and is an active supporter of seminaries in the country.
SKC is an active sportsman. He plays golf and regularly goes to the gym to do physical exercise.
He advocate for physical exercise as a way of promoting health in Malawi.
Chilima fights strongly against corruption which is rampant in Malawi.
Ministerial Position
SKC is the minister of Disaster Relief and Public Events.
In his ministerial capacity Chilima has been visiting areas affected by floods in the country.
Chilima Movement, Why Chilima left DPP?
A function of some DPP members who wanted Chilima to contest for presidency in 2019 elections was born in 2018. The members of the movement openly pledged support for Chilima to take over the mantle of DPP headship.
Views of the movement to openly support SKC angered the other function which wants Peter Muthalika 77 to continue leading the party.
In June 2018 Chilima announced his decision to part ways with the ruling democratic party (DPP).
He announced that he is leaving the party because of high levels corruption, nepotism, tribalism and abuse of resources that result in suffering of poor people in Malawi.

Many developments have happened since the 80’s. The country is now democratic unlike in old times when it was under dictatorship.
The current president is Dr. Lazarus Chakwera.
