SCHOLARSHIP FOR LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT FOR AFRICAN STUDENTS

Mandela Institute of Developmental Studies (MINDS) offers scholarship to African students to study postgraduate qualifications within Africa, but not in their country. The MINDS scholarship aims to nurture leaders who have a continental developmental mindset. Leaders who will facilitate greater cooperation between African countries

MINDS is currently receiving applications from students who start their studies in 2017. Interested people are invited to send applications as soon as they receive official acceptance from a MINDS preferred university at which they wish to study. Applications will be processed in the order they are received. 

Level of study

  • Scholarships are available for postgraduate studies, i.e. honors or masters degree

Scholarship award

The scholarship offered can either be partial or full. The award will cover all or part of the following depending whether it is partial or full award

  • Tuition for the program
  • Accommodation and meals
  • One return ticket per duration of studies
  • A fixed stipend
Eligibility of applicants
  • Be a full-time student for a one year or two honors or masters degree programme at one of the MINDS eligible institution
  • Be a national of an African country, leaving in any African country
  • Have been admitted at one  of the MINDS preferred institutions to study for a postgraduate qualification next year
  •  Have atleast obtained 70{5808e1736132a1fa864f6fc8b64688fbc0d5d9b8c9ab44aea1223eff99f9c2e7} in each subject in the last two completed years
  • Provide evidence of demonstrated leadership
  •  Fully complete and send an online application form
Important attachments

Prospects applicants should attach documents listed below when applying for the scholarship

  • A copy of the bio page of a valid passport of the applicant
  • Certified copies of an academic transcript/results slip of the last two years of study
  • Copy of the official acceptance letter from one of the preferred university addressed to the applicant. The letter should state the academic year the course will begin and duration of the course.
  • A valid study permit/visa or proof of application
  • An updated detailed curriculum vitae of not more than four pages
  • Two references letters addressing the applicants commitment to continental development
  • All documents uploaded should be in PDF format. Each attachment should be less that 2MB.

  • Alexandria University, Egypt
  • Al Akhawayn University, Morocco
  • Moi University, Kenya
